Haiden Oakland Memorial Scholarship

Honoring the legacy of a young man whose passion for aviation soared as high as his dreams.

A Curious Mind and a Relentless Drive

Born on May 27, 2004, in Miles City, Montana, Haiden’s life was defined by curiosity, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. From a young age, he was drawn to anything mechanical—always tinkering, learning, and taking on projects to challenge his skills or help others. Whether it was repairing an engine or tackling a new challenge, Haiden approached every task with focus and perseverance.

Finding Freedom in the Sky

Haiden’s adventurous spirit extended beyond mechanics. He loved football, BMX, dirt biking, and snowmobiling—but it was in the sky where he truly found his calling. In the fall of 2021, he began flight training and, by March 28, 2022, completed his first solo flight—a milestone that marked the beginning of his lifelong dream. By age 18, Haiden earned his private pilot’s license, and by 20, he had achieved certifications in instrument, complex, high-performance, commercial, and multi-engine aviation.

A Life of Passion, Adventure, and Heart

On May 14, 2024, Haiden passed away doing what he loved most—flying. Though his life was tragically cut short, he lived with extraordinary passion, adventure, and generosity. His family—Paul, Marie, and Kyra Oakland—along with his friends, witnessed firsthand the drive and heart that fueled everything he did.

Honoring Haiden’s Legacy Through Opportunity

The Haiden Oakland Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to his unwavering commitment to aviation and to helping others pursue their own dreams in the field. Established by the Oakland family, this scholarship ensures that other aspiring pilots can access the same opportunities that defined Haiden’s journey. Through this award, Haiden’s love for flight will continue to inspire and uplift future aviators—encouraging them, just as he did, to chase their dreams, embrace challenges, and soar to new heights.
