Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) champions connectivity in conservation and inspires solutions that benefit both people and nature. It is a joint Canada-U.S. not-for-profit organization that connects and protects wildlife habitat across the 3,200 km (2,000 miles) from Yellowstone to Yukon. It’s the only organization dedicated to securing the long-term ecological health of this entire region. Y2Y’s mission is to connect and protect habitat from Yellowstone to Yukon so people and nature can thrive. It uses three core elements: connect, conserve and inspire to achieve this.

Y2Y connects wildlife, habitat and people. We connect groups, resources and ideas to advance conservation and inspire people to act. We support the connection of spaces and species, removing the barriers that are essential to their ability to survive and thrive today and for future generations. This work is accomplished through Landscape Connection, Landscape Protection and Communities and Conservation.

Saving isolated species or habitats is not enough; we need to think bigger. Y2Y conserves nature on the scale it needs in places it needs. Montana plays an important role in this effort. Y2Y works to conserve our lands for people and species by protecting and restoring core habitats by guiding development to occur outside of key habitat and corridors and in a way that is coordinated with the larger landscape and a climate resilient future.

At Y2Y, they inspire people to take action to advance conservation. Your gift allows them to work at the landscape scale with many groups so both people and nature can thrive. They inspire large landscape conservation and empower decision-making through scientific research, development of best practices, and the promotion and support of Indigenous knowledge, rights and leadership.
