History of the Fund
In 2017, wildfires ravaged Montana, consuming more than 1.4 million acres across the state. The Montana Community Foundation responded by setting up what is now the Montana Disaster Relief Fund, a nonpermanent fund at MCF, as a vehicle for charitable giving to support those affected by the fires. Since then, MCF has had an ongoing partnership with groups like the Montana Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and Montana Disaster and Emergency Services and the fund continues to provide philanthropic support during Montana disasters.

Local COVID-19 Funds
Our state is in great need right now as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread throughout Montana communities. The Montana Disaster Relief Fund will support the long-term recovery of vulnerable communities once the pandemic subsides while local communities have established emergency funds to provide critical support to individuals and businesses now.
