About the Fund

The Darby Town Community Endowment Fund benefits the community of Darby, Montana.

Dick and Barbara Ackerman wed in 1979 and enjoyed a host of adventures together around the globe, including 10 Earthwatch Expeditions to places like Nepal, Zimbabwe, and Switzerland. Yet their love of Montana and the relaxed and serene beauty of the Bitterroot Valley brought them to settle in Darby in 1998 and found the Darby Town Community Endowment Fund. Dick passed away in 2015, but the legacy he and Barbara have created through the fund continues to support worthwhile projects to benefit the Darby community.

Each year, the Montana Community Foundation manages an annual grant cycle to benefit Darby and its residents.
