Rooted & Ready

February 02, 2026

Dear Local Leaders,

In Montana’s rural communities, leadership often looks like neighbors showing up to volunteer, rolling up their sleeves, and doing whatever needs to be done to support the places they call home. From implementing projects and raising funds to convening partners and responding to local needs, you wear many hats, often quietly and always with deep commitment. Your dedication helps keep Montana’s communities strong, connected, and resilient, and the impact of that work reaches far beyond town lines.

As Program Officer at the Montana Community Foundation, I have the privilege of working alongside community foundations across the state, and I’m continually inspired by the creativity, care, and perseverance you bring to your work. In 2026, we’re excited to deepen those connections and expand learning opportunities designed specifically to support leaders doing this important work.

This year, we’re launching our Rooted & Ready webinar series, which hosts conversations focused on timely topics, practical tools, and shared learning for both new and experienced foundation leaders. These webinars are designed to meet you where you are, offering tools and insights you can use right away in your communities.

Our first Rooted & Ready episode focuses on Donor Intent, a foundational principle of philanthropy and long-term community trust. I had the opportunity to sit down with one of MCF’s experts in donor cultivation, Jessica Stewart, Executive Vice President of Philanthropy, to explore why honoring donor intent matters and how it strengthens relationships, legacy, and lasting impact.

We’re grateful to walk alongside you in this work and look forward to learning together in the months ahead. Stay tuned for more information, and thank you for the many ways you show up for your communities every day.

Grounds for Conversation

The next Grounds for Conversation will be held on February 26 at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom

This space is intended for conversation, questions, idea sharing, and peer support, with no formal agenda required. Whether you’re looking to learn from others, talk through a challenge, or just connect with fellow LCF leaders, we hope this becomes a valuable and welcoming touchpoint.
