Background
The Avista Community Scholarship program aims to support local residents, empowering them to reach their full potential as valued members of our community and pursue their dreams without needing to relocate. This scholarship intends to help students further their education and, ideally, return to contribute to our communities following the completion of a degree or other postsecondary program.
Criteria
Required Criteria
The following are required criteria for this scholarship. Applicants must:
- be a high school senior or graduate from a high school in Sanders County, Montana, or Clark Fork, Idaho, OR residents of Sanders County, Montana, or Clark Fork, Idaho, who have obtained high school equivalency (HiSET or GED).
- be enrolled (or applying to be enrolled) at an accredited two or four-year postsecondary, vocational or technical institution in the United States.
Avista employees and their immediate family members are ineligible for this scholarship.
Preferred Criteria
Preference in consideration will be given to applicants who:
- demonstrate financial need and a strong work ethic through application essay question responses.
Reapplication
Previous recipients are NOT allowed to apply again.
Awards
This scholarship typically provides the following each academic year.

Typically $1,000 to $2,000 per academic year.
