Background
One of three scholarships funded by the Braly Family Foundation Scholarship Fund, the Henry Braly Memorial Scholarship is intended to honor Henry's legacy of giving in the pursuit of higher education. The Henry Braly Memorial Scholarship awards two multi-year scholarships to graduating students at Absarokee High School. The following scholarship awards are renewable for one additional year, provided students meet the renewal criteria listed below:
- $5,000 Award - This award will be given to the applicant who has shown the most improvement in their junior and senior years in high school. Students will be eligible to receive $2,500 annually for up to two years total. If not enrolled in a two-year degree program (e.g., a 6 or 9-month technical program), half of the award will be provided at the start of the program and the other half at the midpoint of the program.
- $4,000 Award - This award will be given to the student with the highest ranked application. Students will be eligible to receive $2,000 annually for up to two years. If not enrolled in a two-year degree program (e.g., a 6 or 9-month technical program), half of the award will be provided at the start of the program and the other half at the midpoint of the program.
Criteria
Required Criteria
The following are required criteria for this scholarship. Applicants must:
- be a graduating senior at Absarokee High School in Stillwater County, MT.
- be enrolled, per the requirements of this scholarship, at an accredited postsecondary institution by the start of the first term of the awarded period.
Continuing Criteria
The Henry Braly Memorial Scholarship awards scholarships that are split between a student's first and second year in college - one half paid each year, provided students continue to meet required criteria for the second year. For MCF's purposes, this scholarship is referred to as a continued scholarship. To be eligible for continuation of a second year (and, therefore, eligible for the second half payment of the awarded amount), students must:
- complete the MCF Continued Scholarship Form (sent to students in Spring of their first year);
- submit a current transcript showing proof of continued enrollment; and
- demonstrate a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Reapplication
Previous recipients are NOT allowed to apply again.
