Background

The Saco High School Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Ruth Donaho. Ruth was born in a small town in Kansas in 1911. She attended college, received a teaching certificate and taught school for several years in Kansas. She and her husband moved to Saco in 1952, where they operated a farm equipment business until he passed away. Ruth spent the rest of her life in various business activities and was involved in many community organizations. She was a bowler, a golfer, and enjoyed school athletic programs. She and her friends seldom missed any event and she was always interested in the school and students, knowing most of them by their first name. Ruth passed away in 2001 leaving this memorial to continue her life-long interest in helping people.

Criteria

Required Criteria

The following are required criteria for this scholarship. Applicants must:

• be a graduating Senior, or graduate, from Saco High School in Saco, MT.
• have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• be enrolled, per the requirements of this scholarship, at an accredited postsecondary institution by the start of the first term of the awarded period.

Selection is based on financial need and long-term goals and objectives.

Previous recipients are NOT allowed to apply again.
