When she joined MCF:
November 2015

Where she’s from:
I grew up next to an apple orchard in a small, rural town in southern New Hampshire.

What she does:
Joanne is an integral member of the Philanthropy Team, working with donors and nonprofits on gift planning and endowment building and coordinating MCF’s behind-the-scenes processes related to charitable gift annuities.

What she did:
Joanne’s initial career path started out in the high-tech industry back in the early 90s, but she transitioned to nonprofits from a desire to feel personally inspired by and connected to the mission behind her work. Over the years, she has had the privilege of working for some wonderful organizations including The Nature Conservancy, Maine Audubon, The Vermont Community Foundation, and most recently, Arizona Public Radio.

What the fancy stuff on her wall is:

Joanne holds a bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of New Hampshire.

Favorite place in Montana:
On a hiking trail anywhere in this amazing state!

If she had to choose another profession:
I would love to work as an interpretive ranger at a National Park, or else in the field of historic preservation. Natural and cultural history are things I have always been passionate about, and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm as a way to help people learn about and connect to world around them.

Something most people don’t know about her:
Back in 1996, I hiked the first 650 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to southwestern Virginia – a truly amazing experience!
