In July, 100 Strong Billings, a nonprofit fund held at the Montana Community Foundation, celebrated having awarded nearly $300,000 for capital projects that enhance the lives of families in Billings. The organization harnesses the creative and charitable energy of women from diverse backgrounds.
Members of 100 Strong each give $100 per quarter, for a total of $400 a year. Every quarter, members review applications and vote on which capital projects to fund. Julie Seedhouse and Haley Vannatta founded the organization in 2018.
“It really hit home to me that if we could take a group of women, each giving $100, we could increase their impact in such a meaningful way,” Julie said of the group’s approach to pooling individual gifts to accomplish big things.

100 Strong has helped fund local projects such as the accessible baseball field at Landon’s Legacy and the Play It Forward project, which added musical equipment to the Highland Elementary playground.
“We want our women to be able to take their kids and their grandkids and say, ‘Look at what we did. We as a group collectively did this thing that is having an impact on so many people,’” Julie said.
